I am part of the assessment team at Bellavista School in Birdhaven, Johannesburg and also conduct individual psycho-educational assessments in Greenside.

From my Greenside premises, I offer individual psychological assessment of children and teenagers. This is preceded by an initial interview with the parent(s) in order to determine the difficulties.

There are two types of child / adolescent assessment. The first is for primary emotional and behavioural difficulties. The assessment is likely to include four play therapy / therapy sessions, after which feedback and recommendations are provided. This may be followed by ongoing individual play therapy / therapy, based on agreement and contracting with the parent(s).

The second type of assessment is conducted where primary learning problems are evident. This may be based on the concerns of the parent/s or the school. I conduct assessments using the WISC-IV (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children), the Cognitive Assessment System (CAS) or the WIAT (Wechsler Individual Achievement Scale). I
work within a multi-disciplinary team and, if necessary, may refer your child to other professionals (e.g. Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist) with whom I work in order to expand the scope of the assessment process.
